New House!

We have moved again (for the second, and hopefully LAST time)! We have upgraded and are now in a house! With the help of a new friend we found a house for rent a few neighbourhoods over from our old apartment. At first I was a little hesitant to move because I loved our old neighbourhood, but now I am very glad we did! Our old landlords were starting to frustrate us and had decided they didn’t like Diablo. It was time to move. Our new place is wonderful. We have a housemate who is only around on weekends because he works far away, so we basically have the house to ourselves! It bears a striking resemblance to our place in Toronto where our housemates were often MIA.

It has a patio and a huge courtyard out front where Diablo (and the neighbourhood children) can play. Our new neighbours also have a dog the same age as Diablo and they have become the best of friends. They spend almost every waking hour together exploring, wrestling and getting into trouble. The house is in the middle of a supermanzana (Mexican neighbourhood unit) so we don’t have to worry about cars and can let Diablo run around freely all day. This is a huge improvement from our old place where Diablo had to be chained up a fair amount of the time because of our old landlords.

The owner of the house is also wonderful. She is warm, friendly and “hip.” She lives in the USA most of the time which is also great news (as a tenant). She seems to really like us (and Diablo!) as well so it doesn’t seem like we will have any issues.
The best part? It costs us about half as much as our old apartment! We upgraded and are now paying a negligible amount for an entire house! It’s pretty awesome!
I have spent the last week cleaning and organizing the house in my typical Jen style. The house has a lot of land so I’m hoping to start a vegetable garden and do some landscaping. I’m really enjoying it and it’s quickly becoming a new hobby. However, the direct Mexican sun makes it very tiring! I will post pictures of any accomplishments in the garden- hopefully we will get some fresh veggies before the bugs here do!
We are still waiting for the internet to get hooked up so my posts will be a bit sporadic for the next week but I will try to get back to posting regularly as soon as I can!
