Exploring the Riviera Maya- Xplor

There are many different parks and activities to chose from down the coast of the Yucatan and after a lot of debate, I chose to visit Xplor and Xcaret. Our first adventure was at Xplor and because we went in October and in the middle of the week it was not busy at all! We started out at the all-you-can-eat buffet and were very impressed. They had an amazing selection of salads and enough North American- type food to keep any family happy. We went back once more before we left- hard to pass up an you can eat buffet!

They have four main activities at Xplor: Zip Lines, an underground river, rafts, and amphibious vehicles. We did everything except the underground river, which seemed too similar to the rafting. Of the three our least favourite was the rafting. We had to wait for a while for a raft despite the short line up. It seemed like the rafts weren’t making it through the tunnels properly. Despite the wait though, we still had fun. The underground caves were beautiful and it was a bit if a workout!
Our second favourite activity were the amphibious vehicles. They had 4 trails you could travel though, each one with tunnels, bridges, and hills. The vehicles sit 4 people so we took turns driving. Jay and Jesse both had a blast trying to go as fast as they could around turns and into tunnels (despite the signs telling you not to).

By far, our favourite activity of the day was the zip lining. They have 2 sets of lines, each with multiple runs. We’ve all been zip-lining before so we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised! They weren’t the longest or the fastest lines we’d been on, but they were unique. The views were spectacular and they were set up so that you had to walk through towers to get from line to line, making it feel like an adventure. Some of the lines landed in water and there was even a water-slide in the middle of one of them!
In addition to these main attractions they also had a few smaller zip-lines that you went down in hammock chairs, a hammock zone, and multiple smoothie booths. Our only real complaint was that the signage was poor, making it difficult to figure out where you were or where you wanted to go.

We got to do everything we wanted and did many things multiple times due to the season. I highly recommend Xplor if you are looking for a fun day out! Check them out here, or at the bottom of my blog!
