Dubai Palace

Jay and I LOVE to eat at Dubai Palace Casino. We eat there 3 times a week, twice for brunch on the weekends and once for lunch/dinner during the week. Not only is the food good, fresh, and made with purified water, it is cheap! I mentioned Dubai Palace on my “Where to Eat” map, but it is worth mentioning here again. For MEX$ 75 you get an all you can eat buffet which includes pop, coffee, soup, at least 8 entrees, and dessert. The best part is if you go for the weekend brunch, or between 2-5 on weekdays they will give you 100 or 50 pesos respectively to play on the slot machines. This weekend Jay and I were really lucky on the slot machines! I seem to have a knack for picking the right machines at the right time. So far we have been doing so well that we are basically getting paid to eat! This does not bode well for my figure.

One of the funniest things about the casino is the security. Casinos are fairly new to Mexico and it appears that they have implemented some of the features of American casinos without really using them properly. When you go into the casino you are asked to walk through a metal detector and open your bag. You are not allowed to bring in water bottles and men must be wearing a shirt with sleeves. The problem is, even though you have to walk through the metal detector to be allowed in they don’t seem to care if it goes off! As long as you walk through it they just wave you in as the machine beeps away. However, try and bring in a water bottle or wear a tank top and they will refuse you entry! Dubious.
